West Midlands Branch (Stafford) of the Military Historical Society
The Military Historical Society was founded in 1948 as a forum for collectors and students of the British forces. Though it remains based in London and the Home Counties, over time, some local branches were established, and the West Midlands branch was set up in 1973. It has been continuously active since that time, and meets on the first Saturday afternoon of each month at Berkswich Methodist Church Hall, Stafford, at 2.30pm.
We pride ourselves on having a wide range of interests, covering all aspects of British, Imperial and Colonial military history, from the English Civil War to the Current Campaigns, with collecting interests ranging from books, buttons and badges to medals, uniforms and equipment.
Our meetings are both friendly and highly informative - and are conducted with the absolute minimum of formality. Usually, each meeting has a theme; members bring along items for discussion, and often go away having acquired more knowledge of the subject than they arrived with! Occasionally, we will invite a guest speaker, and we have even been known to venture out bravely into the fresh air to visit a site of historic interest, or a regimental museum.
If you have an interest in any aspect of military history, you are cordially invited to join us, and attend our meetings.
As a first step, why not make contact with us and come to one of our meetings without any commitment, and see for yourself?
